— Edmund Löns

Truly versatile companion gundog Kleiner kleine Small Münsterländer Munsterlander Muensterlaender puppies bred to the original German standard great for grouse, pheasant, rabbits, quail, deer, blood tracking,. Alternative to drahthaar, langhaar, german wirehaired pointer, large munsterlander, english setter

The Kleine Münsterländer

  • The Kleine Münsterländer is German versatile pointing breed. A key distinction between the KlM and the American bred Small Munsterlander is that our dogs are specifically selected as a result of stringent breeding requirements including heath, temperament, and performance testing that produces a well rounded companion with versatility that includes blood tracking, hunting furred game, and intensive retrieving.

  • We are members of KlM-GNA, the only breed club in North America recognized by the Verband für Kleine Münsterländer, the parent club of the breed. The breed club enforces our strict breeding standards which ensure you receive a puppy with sound temperament, good health, solid working ability, and true versatility.

  • In order to be certified for breeding both sire and dam must pass performance tests that verify their capabilities as useful versatile hunting dogs. These tests include gunfire sensitivity, searching, tracking, pointing, retrieving, and obedience; in field, forest, and water.

Additionally, both sire and dam must pass stringent health and temperament screenings.

Finally, breeders must handle their own dogs in tests so that they can accurately speak to the qualities in their dogs.

Iron Oak Kennels

  • With over a decade of experience training dogs and coaching dog owners, the breeders at Iron Oak Kennels have a unique perspective that informs their approach to breeding. Of course we select dogs for breeding that demonstrate high drive and natural hunting ability, but we prioritize solid temperament in the form of environmental stability and strong nerve.

We assist owners in developing their dog into a bombproof companion in addition to a monster hunting dog. We believe that the ideal companion gundog is mannerly, and cooperative both in the home and on the hunt. Clarifying windows for drive expression is a critical component to creating this ideal balance that few hunting dog breeders are knowledgeable enough to pull off.

  • We have extensive experience raising and training dogs from puppyhood through adulthood, as well as obedience training, and resolving a wide variety of behavior problems. Our years of experience fixing problems has helped us develop a proactive approach to dog development helping ensure you never encounter those problems in the first place.

The overwhelming majority of issues that arise with dogs are due to lack of intentional planning and execution of a management and training plan. But it is difficult to be adequately prepared without experience. Rely on our expertise to make your puppy raising and training experience as smooth as possible.

We train our personal dogs ourselves, start to finish, and handle them in JGV and NAVHDA tests. We never outsource any aspect of their training and development. This gives us an intimate understanding of our own dogs that many other breeders simply do not have.

Our dogs’ abilities to find, handle, and recover wild game are proven year after year on public land in a variety of environments throughout the country.

  • Every puppy owner receives a puppy that has been developed in our training system from birth through at least 8 weeks of age. They have completed early neurological stimulation and early scent introduction, been well socialized, exposed to a wide variety of environmental stimuli, fostered confidence and a love of learning, and have a head start on crate training and house breaking.

Once your new pup goes home you will have access to weekly live (with recordings available) virtual check-ins to help with the transition, get your questions answered, and to get solutions to any problems that may come up. These sessions continue for 8 weeks, ensuring you maximize the outcomes during your puppy's critical development period.

You will also receive access to our online puppy development guide. This is the result of our years of experience and helps further guide you through important exercises and considerations to give your puppy the best possible foundation for all future endeavors.

All of this valuable support is included with the purchase of your puppy.

The Iron Oak Family

  • In addition to all of the included benefits, we offer additional support as you train your KlM to be a well mannered companion, and a fantastic hunting dog. Puppy buyers are welcome to participate in our kennel training days.

You are additionally entitled to discounted pricing on our board & train programs, seminars, and classes; and free access to our virtual classes, online courses, and webinars.

  • We prioritize puppy buyers who are willing to test their dogs through the JGHV system. Testing your dog through our breed club performance evaluations provides valuable feedback to us about our breeding program and helps inform future breeding decisions.

Not only do we help you prepare your dog for the test but we also attend our club sponsored tests in person whenever possible and help ease the logistical burdens of testing your dog by organizing lodging for everyone participating in the tests.

  • Puppy buyers also get access to our public land wild game hunt camps. We take multiple trips to game rich environments each year and love sharing the experience with others. These are not guided hunts. Instead we educate you on the species we are hunting, how to scout, and how to work with your dog. This way, you can feel a true sense of accomplishment as you successfully hunt wild game, that you scouted, over your dog.

Typical camps include prairie grouse and partridge in September, upland and waterfowl mixed bag hunts in October/November, and upland mixed bag hunts in January.
