Started/Finshed Dogs
Toad (Alric v.d. Eiseneiche) AVAILABLE
Toad is braunschimmel (brown roan) male from the A litter. He is a very powerful dog in the field with great search, tracking, and use of nose. He is calm in the house and very snuggly. He loves people and dogs. Toad has a tail defect that prevents him from being breedable. His tail is too short and one of the bones in the tail has a minor deformation. This does not affect his working ability, tail movement, or health in any way.
Toad has proven to be a capable hunter already, having hunted wild birds and rabbits in North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico. He has been fully indoctrinated into our training system force fetched, pointing nicely, and is already a solid game recovery dog at under a year old. He is sight loud on fur, meaning he barks when he flushes a rabbit. For us, this makes him a safer dog to hunt rabbits with as it is easy to know where he is when a rabbit flushes in front of him. His natural tracking ability and great nose allowed him to recover a number of birds for us last season that we otherwise would not have been able to find.
In his VJP (puppy natural ability) test he put up an impressive score of 74 points. 70 is considered a “perfect” score with additional points possible for exceptional work under uncommon circumstances. He is a great representation of the performance and temperament we want from our breed.
As our focus is on “companion gundogs” Toad has also been well socialized to a wide variety of environments and is truly a gentleman’s versatile gundog. He is a dog you can trust to work hard in the field, and be polite and unassuming at the brewery after the hunt. He handles easily in the field and his obedience is wonderful.
Toad will be available as a “seasoned” dog for $7,500 in September. This means he has been trained and proven to meet to the standards for the HZP test.
